The Chair is a graphic design project exploring modular construction, visible joinery, and the aesthetics of untreated materials. Rather than functioning primarily as a piece of furniture, the chair is conceived as a nomadic exhibition space. The design examines how a 9° angle alters this metaphorical act of sitting, and how the same inclination can shape the act of reading when translated into typography.

The whitespace at the bottom of the publication conforms to this seating position. It ensures enough space to rest the book on your legs while the text is still clearly readable.

The texts in the book all talk about craftsmanship and construction, all from a different perspective.

After photographing chairs for documnetation purposes, I ended up with an archive of "Cool Looking Chairs". This later resulted in an image publication where I picked out some of my favorite ones.
