When I was 16, I started analogue photography and began looking for ways to document silence through images. While creating these images, I often went out alone and explored the clichés of the Belgian landscape and our typical architecture. Although the title says ‘West-Belgique’, not all photos were taken within the fictitious borders of my nation. The photography for this project began in 2020 and was a process that lasted about a year and a half. From January to March 2022, these photos were exhibited at the RW gallery in Antwerp. The publication was self-published and printed and sold in an edition of 50. This was my first autonomous art project and was partly responsible for my decision to study art at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK).
